A Second Act with Meaningful Impact

I had the chance to sit down with Michael Sennett on this week’s episode of Becoming the GC Podcast.

Early in my career at Baxter, Mike was the antitrust partner I learned from. It was great to reconnect and hear how his path evolved from global Big Law work to a General Counsel role where he continues to make an impact on his own terms.

What stood out most was how intentional his later career decisions were, and how that led to a “second act” that still offers meaningful impact.

In this episode, we cover:
• His pivot from academia into law
• What global antitrust work really looks like
• How regulation and enforcement have evolved
• Why qualitative judgment still matters alongside data
• His transition into a GC role later in his career
• What a high-impact legal role with autonomy can look like

If you’re thinking about how your legal career evolves over time, this is a great listen.
