Melissa Haldorsen is an Assistant General Counsel at GeneralCounselWest, PC, who focuses her practice on advising healthcare companies in a variety of payor and commercial contracting matters, from helming negotiations to developing best practices to managing disputes and pre-litigation issues. In practice since 2009, Melissa has additional expertise in advising clients on healthcare regulatory, compliance, and privacy issues, including matters involving HIPAA, as well as representing clients in acquisitions with a focus on payor contracting diligence.
Prior to joining GeneralCounselWest, Melissa was an associate in litigation with Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher. She represented and advised clients across a wide range of industries (healthcare/pharma, aerospace, entertainment, insurance, technology, real estate) on labor and employment, regulatory, and general litigation matters. She routinely researched and drafted motions and other briefings on complex legal issues in both the pre-trial and appellate contexts. She also managed discovery and document reviews, as well as prepared witnesses for and defended depositions.
Melissa earned her law degree in 2009 from Harvard Law School, where she served as an Executive Editor of the Journal of Law and Public Policy and was an active member of the Catholic Law Students Association. She graduated with honors from the University of Florida in 2005 with a Bachelor of Arts in History and Political Science and elected to Phi Beta Kappa.
In her spare time, Melissa enjoys photography, travel, and spending time with family. She is a member of the California bar, and is admitted to practice before the United States District Courts for the Central and Southern Districts of California.
